LOS ANGELES COUNTRY CLUB
I currently work at the Los Angeles Country Club where I oversee daily operations across the North course. I manage a team of 25+ staff, interns, and assistants-in-training on mowers, tractors, spray hawks and GPS sprayers. I ensure teams are skilled in monthly course renovations when we vent, top dress, and flush greens. I manage irrigation systems, drainage installations, and other major projects. I assist with budget planning to keep us on schedule and cost-effective. I track and report daily turf metrics to upper management and conduct morning meetings to coordinate tasks, maintaining top-tier course conditions.
DAILY DATA COLLECTION
I combine traditional turf management methods with modern technology, utilizing a GS3 ball to collect precise data on course conditions. By measuring green firmness, speed, and moisture, I optimize playing conditions for our members and guests. This approach allows for informed decision-making in daily maintenance, ensuring consistent course quality with fast and firm putting surfaces.
INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT
I implement an integrated pest management approach that prioritizes turfgrass health and sustainability. By utilizing deep and infrequent watering practices, I encourage strong root development and drought resilience. Regular aeration and topdressing improve soil structure, enhance nutrient absorption, and maintain smooth, firm playing surfaces. This proactive strategy minimizes pest pressure, reduces the need for chemical treatments, and promotes optimal turf conditions for superior playability.
LACC North Course 2023 US Open
Together with the LACC staff, volunteers, Hanse Golf Course Design, and the USGA, we successfully hosted the 123rd U.S. Open. We ensure that the course met championship standards. We executed key projects, including mainline repairs, city water saddle taps, and critical infrastructure improvements to optimize irrigation and playability. Using double-cut double-roll practices on greens and precise plant growth regulator applications, we enhanced turf health, consistency, and tournament conditions. I collaborated closely with teams to implement meticulous maintenance strategies, contributing to a world-class playing surface for competitors and an exceptional experience for spectators.
LACC SOUTH COURSE RENOVATION
I played a key role in rebuilding the South Course’s 18th green and fairways after supporting major tournament infrastructure, including stadium seating, parking, and merchandise tents. My focus was on ensuring the turf could handle the heavy traffic and structures. I worked closely with course designers, event organizers, and the turf management team to bring everything together smoothly, balancing agronomic best practices with the logistical needs of a championship event. After the tournament, I helped ensure the course was restored and ready for everyday play again.
DRAINAGE
I oversaw multiple drainage installations across the 320-acre property, making sure water was managed efficiently to keep the course in top condition. From planning and excavation to installation, I worked hands-on to prevent water buildup, improve soil health, and protect the turf from stress. I collaborated closely with contractors and the maintenance team to find sustainable solutions that enhanced irrigation while minimizing disruptions to daily operations. By carefully coordinating timelines with ongoing course maintenance, I ensured these improvements were seamlessly integrated, keeping playability and course quality a top priority.
GOLF COURSE CONSTRUCTION
I was part of the team that built a golf course in the beautiful Catskill Mountains of New York while working for Troon Golf. From the ground up, I helped bring the course to life by overseeing the grow-in process, making sure the turf, irrigation, and soil were all set up for long-term success. I worked closely with contractors, agronomic teams, and suppliers to keep everything running smoothly and on schedule. By staying hands-on and finding efficient solutions along the way, we completed the project on time and under budget, creating a great course that golfers could enjoy for years to come.
